I am very happy to introduce a wonderful project and nice people from Lisbon/Portugal.
Glow in the Dark - The Collective:
Glow in the Dark Collective is, first of all, a “place” created on 2013 for people by people, based on a equal community idea. People who have one thing in common: The taste for music labeled Dark: dark forest, dark psy, dark prog, dark techno and dark ambient music No spam or auto-prom are allowed.
Created by Brito (Dj Necronomicon-Freelancer) and Miguel Dias (Dj Migas - GoodMood) the idea was from the beginning to create a music sharing space where the main guideline is the quality of the shared music.
Although their paths have taken different ways, the idea has prevailed.
More great and valid people joined the group and they managed to create a dynamic that growed gradually in number of participants but also in the quality of shared contents.
This led to a sudden question: what about making a V.A? The reaction was a big laugh... How would we, without a penny, pay the artists for their work? Well, first we need to convince them about the nobility, a fair egalitarian project, without fear of turning ideas into reality and overcoming challenges, an ideal that the group tries to cultivate under the slogan: No Labels, No Masters, No Gods.
The positive and warm feedback from the producers was the engine for launching the challenge in the group and to the artists. The result was a line-up with 21 artists from all over the world.
The People:
Manuel Brito, Dj Necronomicon, 52 years old.
- Communist, Anti-Fascist, Electromechanical, Husband, Father and Dark Techno Dj, co-founder of the group Glow In The Dark collective.
Paulo Santos, Psytuga, 53 years old.
- Was born in Lisbon. When he turned 18, he began playing in various bars and clubs , and after awhile he developed a keen interest in psytrance. His preference was progressive and dark but felt something missing. When he travelled to Holland, , he met his friend Bruno Granja ( Psylatino) who changed his life and outlook after teaching him the basics of music production, based on their mutual love for darkpsy and progressive.
Psytuga is currently poised on the edge of global recognition having spent the last few months deeply engaged in production and has several releases ready, which have already been tried and tested on the dancefloor of Belgium, Netherlands, Eslovakia and the most, Portugal..
His style is distinguished by dark atmospherics and progressive builds and has an overall quality that is entirely his own, adding a much needed new perspective in psytrance music....
David, Pikatrix, 49 years old.
- Dj, painter, family guy, with a half a century of life, music is his magic. David loves electronic music, and has been following the psychedelic movement for almost 25 years. At the moment Dark Progressive is the style preferred for his dj sets - sounds of night creatures, dark forest and a mix moved by groove that enchant us all. He likes to present his play list at private parties full of truth and good relationships, where everyone appreciates the dark that is also full of brightness. Other skills: Decorating events, agriculture and the manufacture of spiritual drinks.
Maria, Cloudwalker, 40 years old.
- Mom, worker, socialist , raver and life partner of a dark dj for over 10 years. Studied Literature and translation. From childhood she was taken to the best concerts of rock, blues, punk, alternative, classical, all the best. Music, literature, critical thinking and any artistic expression are her passion.
What brought these 4 people together?
The taste for good music and the desire to create epic moments that crystallize forever. Also some stubbornness and willingness to prove that great things can be built with a true spirit of fraternity, organization, commitment and will to have fun as hell.
